Ladies Managers Thoughts
Ed Savage and Tom Bulley
It has been a tough road getting to this point already this season - we have had to contend with various COVID related disruptions to what was an already shortened pre-season schedule, followed by various league and opposition issues that stopped us starting our season. However, we knew from all that we were seeing week to week in training that this talented group of players was ready to take the next step this season. The season started well with wins away to Thrope and Beccles but a defeat at Bungay highlighted how competitive this league is and the challenges ahead this season.
A first home game against Dussindale, runners up in last seasons post lockdown relaunch, followed by a trip to third placed Long Stratton proved to be the competitive, tight games we expected them to be. An outstanding performance against Dussindale and some excellent work to grind out a result at Stratton, showed just how far this side has come in the last year. A quarter of the way into the season and sitting in third place with games in hand there is a huge amount to be positive about with this group!
After we break from league action to begin our respective league and county cup campaigns, we will return with a home fixture against current league leaders, unbeaten Mulbarton. It promises to be a highly competitive and tough fixture. From our perspective we cannot wait to see how the ladies perform on the day and get a real feel for the progress they have made during the past year.
Tom Bulley and Ed Savage continue to jointly manage Fakenham Town Ladies this season.
